Post subject: Google's Page Rank
How often does Google rank web pages? I have had my web site up for over four months now. I am indexed with Google. It has been spidered once (as far as I know) and has a page rank of 0/10. Anything i can do to get myself spidered again and get a PR? (Sometime this year) Very Happy
Website is www.bizmancan.com

Thanks!!!

Hi bizmancan,
I see that you are using http://powersitesystem.com to build your site, good work.
Google has indexed 52 pages of your site, see http://www.google.com/search?q=site:http://www.bizmancan.com

The last time google updated the PR was on 1st Jan, it seems like another PR update is due soon, I think google has an innternal pr number that they use to rank the results, they are not updating the toolbar pr with this internal number frequently in order to reduce the importance that people give to page rank.

So you may have a toolbar pr of 0 and still rank well if you website is relevant.

What you can do to improve your rankings is to add relevant content and get links to your site from other sites in your field. Keep doing this and the rankings will follow.

Mufad.

Hi Bizmancan,

I visited your website, and took the liberty of exchanging links with you.

While I was at your site, I noticed a couple of things that might be of some help in strengthening your page.

1. Create more categories for your links. These categories can be closely related. By only having one links page for home business related sites, you will create a crowded environment for your link partners. Try creating categories with the following titles and perhaps a few more.

"Work at Home" "Stay at Home Jobs" "Home Business Resources" "Highly Recommended" "Work From Home" "Internet Resources" "Internet Tools"

There are many more that you can use, so don't think that you must limit your categories. For each category that you create, you are actually creating another page on your site. This also allows your link partners to be on a less crowded page, and to have their link on a page that uses their keywords.

2. Keep adding content to your page in the form of fresh articles. The best articles to add are the ones that you write yourself. That way, you will be adding unique content to your website (The best kind). You can also send your articles to other sites with your resource box included. That way you can create valuable oneway links back to your web site.

3. You have an awful lot of SFI products advertised on your site in the left hand column. This is valuable real estate, because it shows up on every page on your site. Also, SFI products are advertised all over the Internet, and they are extremely tough to sell online.

A better use of the left hand column would be with things like Google Adsense and Click Bank Products that are closely related to the theme of your website. By advertising these products instead of SFI cleaners and books, you can generate some extra cash to use in your business.

I hope that you find this information helpful. You can also find additional information and tips for the operation of your powersite system website at the forum at http://powersitesystem.com

I got a PR of 3 at my main page (www.internet-based-business-opportunity.net)!
This is mostly through a SINGLE link exchange with Robert's (badbobrst) site (www.stayathomejobs.net) who also happen to be my sponsor at SFI Very Happy
Thanks Robert!

Thanks Arradia! Went from a PR of 0 to 2. I'll just keep adding links. BTW, I took the liberty of adding your link to our site.

Stay at Home Jobs remained PR 5, but many of my internal pages got a big bump. All of my link categories got boosted to at least two, and many of the other pages were boosted to 3 and 4.

My advice is to continue to exchange links with relevant sites, and also add good articles that are rich in your keywords.

I've linked back to your site. Look for an email from me for details.

You should add a link to your site in your signature here at the forum too.

Note that one-way links are better than 2-way links. Doing excessive link exchanges can get you penalized by Google and others and irrelevant links can get you banned from msn (I know from experience). There are some good directories for gaining one way links and hopefully google is still passing on pr from some of those directories. There is also the controversial google sandbox of around 6 months where new sites sit in the sandbox without pr or rankings until they have been around a while. There are exceptions to this but normally it takes longer to rank in google than in yahoo or msn.

If were you , I will not worry about PR. I will focus on traffic only. For traffic I need better Google position. PR is less important for Google rank, unless you are selling links.
