I assume your HTML knowledge is zero, right? There are many ways to get your site up & running but you must be more specific in what you are looking for. Do you want to do it yourself so you are looking for place where to start? Or you maybe want others to do it, for cash? Or free, maybe? :]

I would like to do i myself if it is possible and I am looking for a place to start. If others would do it for free, I would greatly appreciate it.

it was more a joke... i doubt anybody would do it for free... :]

go to google, open first 20 sites, list all tutorial pages, print them all and start reading.

or buy a book - start with HTML (I assume book will cover a bit of Photoshop too), and in the future, if you are interested, you can easily learn some server-side techniques... let's say that should be HTML upgrade, allowing you to control that poor language called HTML much better & with much more strenght than he can handle on its back.

or maybe the best one - download Dreamweaver and read its own tutorials - you will get both web design/programming software & great tutorial with it.

You will learn the same thing at a college as you will by the google search that Vinyl suggested. One you will pay for and the other takes more self motivation

Since you seem to want things for free, and as easy as possible......... I would suggest you marry someone who is a web designer.

And to answer your question....... Yes, once you are familliar with HTML, Javascript and PHP........ you can make a web page like biz-whiz.com

greetings again pedrammariani, I just finished a post in the other forum regarding DMOZ - if you want to purchase a book for working on your website, I would highly recommend "Web Design on a Shoestring" - it contains valuable web design tips and tricks for creating great websites on a budget, but it does assume you have a working knowledge of HTML or XHTML - so definitely start with the google search suggested by vinyl or purchase a book on HTML (XHTML) - a straight book on the basics will be good, but I warn you now - many of them are boring, so please prepare yourself.

About the free website thing...hmm....um, yea...that's gonna be mighty difficult - and from the picture on your website, it seems you are already married so I don't think keith's advice will work out for ya (unless she's a web designer).

later days and much success,
teli

pedrammariani,
Some web hosts offer an online website builder i.e. sitestudio. They give you templates to work with and pre-installed scripts. I would suggest getting a copy of Dreamweaver (if you have the $$$) It is simple to use. There are a few free html editors out there but if you have zero experiance go with Dreamweaver or find a host with a free sitebuilder.

Yes, or do a search on sitebuilders. It won't likely be free -- but a lot of tech knowledge isn't necessary.

Good luck!

There are mony services out there that will offer a way to build your site for free if you simply host it with them. Are they the best thing out there? Not really. Can you build a fully funcional site with them? Of course!

Building a web site is not so much a matter of prior knowledge but how much you're willing to put into it. If you're willing to take the time to do some research and learn what you need to know you can build an awesome site. If not..... I suggest the marriage thing.

Marc,
A couple of your links on the website don't work - just a head's up Smile.

I've also written a free ebook on XHTML (even if you don't know HTML) CSS and design for the beginner.

Hopefully the ebook will empower you with the knowledge to make changes to your own existing site quickly and easily, clean up your code to make it more search engine friendly, and also given you a foundation for creating future web pages or sites.

Please feel free to let me know what you think - it's a brief ebook (about 27 pgs.) and it cuts straight to the point - I tried to minimize the fluff

Stats:
You will need Adobe Acrobat 5.0 and above to read it (free download)
File Size: 255k
download link: http://www.buniek.com/resources/css-xhtml/cssxhtmlbasics.pdf

Also, you can read the book online at http://www.buniek.com/resources/css-xhtml/
website best viewed in 1024x768 or higher resolution.

I used the methods discussed in the ebook to create the online version (which is skinnable to see how different colors affect the feel of the site).

Of course, if you have any questions, I would be more than happy to answer them for you - just PM or email me.

I hope you enjoy!

Regards,
Teli
