I want to redo my website using a template but there are so many, I'm looking for recommendations from anyone who has used one. I have a smattering of html knowledge which in my case is dangerous, so the more intuitive the template the better. Thanks a bunch. |

Well, I've customized templates for clients before, but can't say I've ever used one myself. The bad news is: the quality and ease of use is a toss up and depends on whether the creator was feeling organized on the day he made it. The good news: there are some diamonds in the rough and if you are patient, understand what you're doing, then you can end up with a low cost design.
One place you may want to try is www.basictemplates.com - they offer templates for about $5 each.
Hope that helps out |

Hello!
As posted before, there are a lot of free templates on the internet that you can use. However, there is one thing about them that you should consider before using them.
The so called free 'Photoshop based' templates have a fantastic design, but if you put your own text into the template and it is much longer than the sample text, the layout of the page might fall apart. If you use a free 'HTML based' template, you might not have such a fancy design, but you have more liberty when changing the content of the template. And you can make them more search engine friendly. I guess what you have to consider with those free templates is whether you want to please your visitors visually or you want to please the search engines. Of course you can achieve a balance but it requires a little HTML and Photoshopping knowledge.
You can find a few free templates here:
http://www.webtemplatemall.com/free_web_page_templates.html
The site also offers various cheap templates.
I hope this post has helped to those people who wish to use a template for their site. |
