I HAVE BEEN BUYING ON EBAY FOR JUST OVER A YR AND DECIDED TO SELL SOME ITEMS I HAD BUT NO LONGER USED.....THEN I GOT THE SELLING BUG AND BOUGHT ALOT OF WHOLESALER LISTS (ALOT OF WHICH I FOUND VERY UNHELPFUL-BUT NOW I HAVE A GOOD SIZED LIST OF WHOLESALERS FOR GOOD VALUE STOCK) AND I HAVE NOW DECIDED TO GO SELF EMPLOYED. I HAVE OPENED A BUSINESS ACCOUNT, ETC, BUT NOW I'M A BIT STUCK. I HAVE SMALL CAPITAL AT MY DISPOSAL BUT I NEED MORE TO GET STOCK FROM WHOLESALERS (ALSO ONCE I COME OFF INCOME SUPPORT - AS I AM A SINGLE PARENT AT THE MOMENT - ALL MY MONEY WILL STOP). CAN ANYONE OUT THERE GIVE ME ADVICE ON WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO GET CAPITAL? (NOTE I CANT GET LOANS AT THE MOMENT), IS IT WORTH ME OPENING AN EBAY SHOP AT THE MOMENT? I HAVE LOTS MORE QUESTIONS SO IF ANYONE OUT THERE HAS ADVICE FOR ME I WOULD APPRECIATE IT VERY MUCH.

My name is ash, i am uk based ebay member, i have been selling on ebay since 2001.
Have you tried to sell info products on ebay, like software,ebooks,web-templates etc.
I sell these on ebay all the time, and it's an easy way to make few hundred pounds every month, you can visit my ebay store here http://stores.ebay.co.uk/ebiz96
Or maybe you can try and become dropshipper, with dropshipping method you do not need any money up front, many drop shipping companies allow you to sell there products online.
Try this 'FREE' list i have complied in a ebook format you can download it here

tyvm ash i'll take a look.....i am going to sell alsorts of items, i already sell clothes and toys, but am going to branch out and get lots of stock in, so i am going to go self employed. but the main thing i'm worried about is the start, coming off income support and making this job work, i have a child to think of u see. I am going to make a top of the range wholesalers list then sell that too and ebooks is a great idea too. |

I also have sold allot of information products on eBay, although over the past year I have noticed a Big decrease in activity. Thus the need to really do your homework to see what is hot, and what is selling.
I look at many sellers on eBay selling information products, and it looks like the only one making money is eBay.
How can you list something, pay the .30 listing fee + .25 Gallery fee, then sell the item for 1 dollar? It is not worth the time and effort.
I would rather spend my time in research, then only list the items that sell. Of course you have to do some test auctions to get there. But when I look at some sellers and see that they only have anywhere from a 12% to 30% sell through ratio, the only winner here is the person that purchased the product, and eBay.
Don't get me wrong, I love information products, the ease of delivery, etc.., but if you want to see the value of a product drop like a rock within weeks, place it on eBay.
I am very selective about the products I sell these days, I am doing this to make money, not to line the pockets of feeBay.
Usually the information / software products I sell on eBay, I make sure I can get anywhere from 10 to 30 dollars for.
Hope this gives some insight from someone who has been selling info products on several venues for a few years.

julia....are you sure you cant get a loan? maybe you could borrow a few thousand from family/friend??? I know it is hard, i'm somewhat in the same boat trying to get my business going it takes $$$$. If you havent figured this out yet you can research a lot of the wholesalers for the items you want....there are some out there that do not have minimums and even some that do, will often reduce the minimum opening order(if you call them) to get you as a potential customer (if you are satisfied with their product) Find out what the turnaround time is for some of the companies you want to deal with. With many...if you place an oder with them say on a tuesday you can have it by friday or sat, thus giving you enough time to get it to your customer in a reasonable time. you can email me if you would like to talk further. cbubutler@cs.com (please put from julia in the subject line) hope this helps a little. hang in there...it all takes time. christie |

You should be very careful about your wholesale and dropshipping sources, because many claim to be legitamite wholesalers/dropshippers when they are actually just performing "middleman" services for the real sources. Dropshipping is an easy way to make money on ebay without buying stock. In fact, you never need to purchase any item before you have it sold on ebay! So, you have a guaranteed profit before you even purchase the product!! Follow my link below for access to ligitamate dropshippers/wholesalers, and many other auction secrets revealed. Good luck!! This will definately help. |

It seems to me that dropshipping is a good way to get started - but I wonder if it is an effective long term strategy. The premiums charged by a good many dropshippers - even "real ones" are very high. Seems to me the better approach is to consider buying wholesale lots. Pain, yes, but with the right lot, can sell for several 100% over the cost of purchase. |
