I think the name of first search engine is Archives created in 1990 by Alan Emtage. |

May be many of the members here still don't know the actual answer of this question. The first search engine designed was Archie, designed in 1990 by Alan Emtage, a student at McGill University in Montreal. The original purpose of the name was Archives, but it was shortened to Archie. |
