Greetings all,
I posted this in the free resources section, but I figured I should also post it in the Design & Programming section as it's what it mainly deals with . Hopefully someone will find it useful...
I just finished up an ebook featuring a how-to for the novice on basic design, xhtml (even if you don't know html) and css.
It is free and it will get you started on the right foot to designing nice accessible and compliant web pages as well as maintaining your current site if you have one.
Although you don't need to be a guru at a coding language such as HTML - almost anywhere you look you are told that you at very least need to know the basics - that it what I've tried to cover in this ebook. Hopefully the ebook will empower you with the knowledge to make changes to your own existing site quickly and easily, clean up your code to make it more search engine friendly, and also given you a foundation for creating future web pages or sites.
Please feel free to let me know what you think - it's a brief ebook (about 27 pgs.) and it cuts straight to the point - I tried to minimize the fluff
Stats:
You will need Adobe Acrobat 5.0 and above to read it (free download)
File Size: 255k
download link: Learning the Basics: Practical Website Design, XHTML, and CSS (even if you don't know HTML)
Also, you can read the book online at: Learning the Basics: Practical Website Design, XHTML, and CSS (online version)
website best viewed in 1024x768 or higher resolution.
I used the methods discussed in the ebook to create the online version (which is skinnable to see how different colors affect the feel of the site).
**Update**
I've added an HTML color chart (web safe colors) with their corresponding hex values.
Of course, if you have any questions, I would be more than happy to answer them for you - just PM or email me.
I hope you enjoy!
Regards,
Teli |
